Google Video on the way out Date: 2007-12-17 12:52:03
Three major signs Google Video is being phased out:
- Google Video homepage shows 80% Youtube video content links
- Youtube is an option now in the Google Services dropdown menu
- Google Techtalk videos now seem to be on Youtube exclusively
Wow, this really sucks. Mainly because I can't download videos for offline use anymore. Oh well, I guess the platform was too consumer-friendly to last.

There are methods to download videos from YouTube. Check out http://www.zamzar.com/ Personally I feel that YouTube is much better than Google Video. But that probably has to do with the fact that Google Video development was halted shortly after YouTube was acquired.

Sure, the YouTube interface is way more sophisticated than Google Video. But I don't want to use some cobbled-together proxy hack plugin to take stuff with me. Besides, doesn't YouTube still have those limitations on file size and such, or has that been lifted?
Obviously, I'm hinged on that single feature. Well, that and the option to filter by run time of the video (I like very long videos for commuting)
