Flickr: No Paypal, Less Features, Less Everything Date: 2007-08-20 11:02:31
My Flickr account expired and I can't renew it since they don't accept Paypal anymore. Lastly, they introduced censorship and now I discovered they even reduced the feature set of the free version beyond what most people would consider to be useful.
The worst part isn't that I can't access my photos anymore (luckily I store all of them offline, anyway). No, what's worst is that I recommended Flickr to practically everyone who would listen, and now I feel really bad about giving those recommendations. And it's not as if I hadn't been burned by, say, TextAmerica before that.
This comes just as Google announced that my premium content will stop playing, because they decided that "purchased to own" material is something they don't feel like supporting anymore.
What now? What should my next photo service be? Or should I just start hosting all my stuff by myself?
I'm growing really, really tired of online services and locked-in stuff.
